All of a sudden it clicked!

AHA Moments

TENACIOUS TUESDAY ~ I had a student say this to me after a class this week and it was like fireworks of joy went off in my head. She has been managing pain in her wrists for a while. Throughout the class I described and demoed the importance of having strength and stability in the shoulder blades through the shoulder joint in order to prevent too much compression on the wrists. Through micro adjustments to her positioning, you could immediately see a deeper engagement of her muscles in these areas and the relief it provided to her wrists. After class, she said “All of a sudden I got it. I understand what it means when you say it’s all connected!”

This is what LYT yoga is all about – alignment, strength, stability, mobility, and adaptability. We come back into more optimal alignment as our anatomy intended, build strength and stability through the muscles and joints, and learn to move well with power and intention. All of this makes us more adaptable to changes around us and more resilient to injury. And guess what? All of that translates into our mindset as well.

After 20+ years of practicing yoga, running, cycling, swimming and triathlon, I can honestly say that I’ve never worked as hard at anything as I’ve worked at resetting and rebuilding my body with LYT. This is why it’s the only yoga I teach and why I am so passionate about sharing it!

Yes, it’s challenging – and can be humbling – but worth the work to realize how much better you can feel in your body and how much more empowered you can feel in your mind.

No more soapbox, I promise. All I’ll say is that I continue to learn everyday about my own body and the mechanics of how it works. It’s a continual evolution and that’s exciting to me. I’m fascinated by what I uncover in my own journey and what I see my students discover in themselves through each flow. It goes so much further than balancing on one leg or touching your toes. It’s about finding a sense of synergy and connection in our bodies and carrying that into how we experience this crazy, beautiful life.
